Santa Comba Tables

SANTA COMBA

Today I would like to show you a project never done. I made a proposal for a restaurant in La Coruña, the restaurant has the name of a Saint: Santa Comba, and there is a church in tribute to her. The architect of the restaurant, a friend of mine, made the interior design project according to the legend of Santa Comba. We did the tables design together, spending half of a day having fun working on it. The design is playing with the cross, we find several of them in every kind.

I must say that we are not catholics, but we grew in a catholic culture and we’ve been always surrounded by iconoclastic symbols. We used to see those Virgins crying and Christs on the cross decorating the houses of our grandparents and many other familiars. Inside this culture there is like the pop art version of catholicism, some special saints like Santa Comba. So It’s some kind of fun to play with those icons for a modern restaurant. Even more if we take into consideration that the place is focused on young people absolutely out of this culture, so it’s provocative somehow too. All this is something I’m understanding right now, because as a designer we just limited ourselves to have fun with the desing, crosses and colours.

I hope that you like the Santa Comba’s tables.
