I would like to talk to you about a project I did this summer, just the day I was starting the vacations with my partner and our son. We were arriving to Tarifa to a house we rented for a couple of weeks. I received a mail from my friends in Iaac inviting to some closer designers to make a proposal for a sculpture on concrete. No matter the use, it had to be designed to be 3D printed by a huge machine. The best proposal would be printed and place it outside an expo somewhere in Dubai.

It was an oportunity but at the same time I couldn’t take so much time as we were already on vacations. So I used a design already made and transform it in order to produce a sculpture technically affordable. Do you remember those designs made out of waves the headboardor the ceiling?

I used those waves again, this time very big, like two meters high. It was like a couple of vaults, what is ideal for being 3D printed and the compression that the concrete works.

I conceived this sculpture as bench or a shape where the children could play. I didn’t get the job, but I was very happy with the design and the time it took, just two summer evenings with a cup of wine while our son was peacefully sleeping.
